Mandy Grayson
Profesor de quinto curso
Mandy Grayson is a curious, lifelong learner who holds a Bachelor of Arts in English and Liberal Studies and a Master of Arts in English. She joins the ACAR community as a fifth-grade teacher with over twenty years of experience working with students of all ages. Her teaching background includes college composition at Middle Tennessee State University, high school English and science in Middle Tennessee public schools, middle school core subjects in tutorial settings, and beginning literacy and numeracy instruction through a tutoring franchise. She also homeschooled her own three children for fourteen years.
Ms. Grayson is passionate about helping students grow both academically and personally. Her teaching philosophy emphasizes metacognitive awareness as a means of fostering reflection and meeting students where they are in order to progress forward with mastery. She is committed to a classical, content-rich education that cultivates wonder, diligence, and moral character, drawing on Charlotte Mason’s belief that education is not the filling of a bucket but the lighting of a fire. She looks forward to partnering with families to make fifth grade a year of meaningful learning and discovery.
