American Classical Academy Rutherford is committed to making this website usable by everyone, including people who use screen readers, keyboard navigation, magnification or captions. Access to school information should not depend on how somebody reads a page.
The standard we work to
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA, which is the standard referenced by Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act for state and local government websites.
What that means here
- Every photograph and graphic in the site’s pages carries a text description for screen readers.
- Each page has a single main heading, and headings below it describe the structure of the page rather than its styling.
- The site can be used at a phone’s width and enlarged without losing content; pinch-zoom is not blocked.
- Text is set against backgrounds chosen for contrast, and links are distinguishable.
- Motion on the site respects the “reduce motion” setting in your operating system.
Where we know we fall short
- Some PDFs — particularly board agendas, supply lists and documents produced by others — are not fully tagged for screen readers. Ask us and we will provide the same information in an accessible format.
- Embedded video hosted on other services may not always carry captions.
- Pages translated automatically into Spanish and Arabic may read less naturally than the English original.
Tell us about a barrier
If any part of this website, or any document on it, is difficult or impossible for you to use, please tell us. Say which page or document it is and what happened, and give us a way to reach you.
