Dr. Thomas Covington

Dr. Thomas Covington is a husband, uncle, and proud U.S. Army veteran with more than a decade of service. His path to education has been anything but conventional. After his military career, he served in higher education, district operations, and grants administration, eventually earning his doctorate in education. Along the way, he discovered that his true calling was in the classroom and in school leadership. When he encountered American Classical Academy Rutherford, he found a school whose mission of truth, virtue, and academic excellence matched everything he believes education should be. It is an honor for him to bring his background in leadership, operations, and instruction to serve this community as Assistant Head of School.

Why He Loves Working at a Hillsdale School:

He loves that a classical education forms the whole person, not just the mind. Every day he gets to work alongside dedicated teachers and families who believe their students are capable of great things, and who hold them to a standard worthy of their potential. Watching students wrestle with great books, master difficult content, and grow in character reminds him why this work matters.
