Sarah Taylor Young

Mrs. Sarah Taylor Young is the Music Teacher at American Classical Academy Rutherford (ACAR), where she teaches fine arts and is a founding member of the faculty. Mrs. Young received her B.S. in Interdisciplinary Studies from Middle Tennessee State University and is pursuing her master’s degree in music education there.

Mrs. Young has taught K–12 students for 18 years, both as a private tutor and in the classroom, and has worked in classical education for the past seven years.

Mrs. Young’s fondest memories of her father are rooted in the arts: he introduced her to music, theater, painting, and drawing, and they spent whole weekends painting on blank canvases. From childhood she visited art museums to see works by Monet, Manet, and da Vinci, and her mother taught her to work with her hands, from making wooden Christmas ornaments to gardening. Her favorite mediums are painting and drawing, and her favorite movement is Impressionism. Her favorite works include Michelangelo’s Sistine Chapel, Van Gogh’s Sunflowers, Monet’s Water Lilies, and Jackson Pollock’s Convergence. She teaches students that extraordinary masterpieces begin with the most ordinary brushstrokes.

Mrs. Young was born and raised in Middle Tennessee. She has been married for 13 years to fellow faculty member Mr. Adam Young, and they live in Murfreesboro with their two children and their dog. In her free time she enjoys music, songwriting, drawing, painting, and gardening.
