Justin Johnson is a 5th-grade teacher at American Classical Academy Rutherford.

Mr. Johnson was born and raised in Middle Tennessee and attended Hillsdale College, receiving two degrees in Philosophy and Politics with emphasis in Ancient and Modern philosophy, modern political movements, and the philosophy of virtue.

In the classroom, Mr. Johnson previously taught 8th Grade English, focusing on works like Animal Farm, A Christmas Carol, To Kill a Mockingbird, and various poetry selections.

Mr. Johnson believes deeply in the mission of classical education. He believes that a true Liberal Education frees the student to be free-thinking and critically minded. This can only occur through the cultivation of intellectual and moral virtue. The classroom provides an environment where perseverance, courage, fortitude, and respect can be cultivated through hard work and dedication to the topic at hand. He believes that it is this act of study, along with good, true, and beautiful content, that helps to lead students into the full person they can become.
