Justin Johnson
Seventh Grade Teacher
Mr. Justin Johnson is a 7th Grade Teacher at American Classical Academy Rutherford (ACAR). Mr. Johnson attended Hillsdale College, earning two degrees, in Philosophy and in Politics, with emphasis in ancient and modern philosophy, modern political movements, and the philosophy of virtue.
Mr. Johnson previously taught 8th grade English, focusing on works such as Animal Farm, A Christmas Carol, and To Kill a Mockingbird, along with various poetry selections.
Mr. Johnson believes deeply in the mission of classical education. In his view, a true liberal education frees students to be free-thinking and critically minded, which can only happen through the cultivation of intellectual and moral virtue. The classroom is a place where perseverance, courage, fortitude, and respect grow through hard work and dedication to the subject at hand, and he believes this act of study, joined to good, true, and beautiful content, leads students into the full persons they can become.
Mr. Johnson was born and raised in Middle Tennessee.
