Lena Lesho
ELL Teacher
Ms. Lena Lesho is the English Language Learner (ELL) Teacher at American Classical Academy Rutherford.
Ms. Lesho has always loved working with children and helping them discover that they are capable of more than they sometimes believe. As an ELL teacher, she works with students from many different backgrounds and helps them build the English skills they need to feel confident in their classrooms. She enjoys finding different ways to make learning understandable, encouraging students when something feels difficult, and celebrating the small moments when a child realizes what they can do.
She is glad to be part of ACAR and to work alongside the school’s teachers and families to help students grow both academically and personally.
What she appreciates most about a Hillsdale school is that students are encouraged to ask questions, think deeply, and learn about the world around them — that the school is not only teaching students what to learn, but helping them become curious, thoughtful and kind people. As an ELL teacher, she is especially grateful to be in a school where every student is valued and where she can help students find their voice and feel that they truly belong.
She is guided by a favorite quote from Plutarch: “The mind is not a vessel to be filled, but a fire to be kindled.”
