American Classical Academy Rutherford (ACAR) is a tuition-free public charter school at 2 Ingram Blvd, La Vergne, TN 37086. This notice explains what this website collects, why, and what we do with it. Questions about anything below go to info@rutherfordclassical.org or (615) 675-0498.
What this policy covers
This policy covers rutherfordclassical.org only. Two other things are governed separately:
- Student education records — grades, attendance, discipline, health and similar records — are governed by the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and the school’s own policies, not by this notice. See Student Records & Directory Information.
- The ACAR Account (theacaraccount.com), where families pay for meals and after care, is a separate system with its own sign-in and its own terms.
What we collect
We do not require anyone to identify themselves to read this website. We collect information in three situations:
1. When you send us something
The forms on this site ask only for what is needed to reply:
- Contact form — your name, email address, telephone number, subject and message.
- Newsletter sign-up — your name and email address.
- Book a tour — your name, email address, telephone number and the details you give about your child’s grade and start year.
- Volunteer interest — your name, email address and the opportunities you select.
- Refer a family — for current families, your name and email address, and the name and email of the family you refer.
These reach the school office by email, and tour, volunteer and referral submissions are also stored in the school’s own system so that staff can follow up. We keep them as long as they are useful for the purpose you sent them for, and school records retention rules apply where they become part of a school record.
2. Automatically, as you browse
Like nearly every website, our server and its security provider record ordinary technical information — the pages requested, the time, the browser and operating system, and the IP address the request came from. We use Google Analytics (through Google Tag Manager) to understand which pages families use, in aggregate. We do not use this website to build advertising profiles, and we do not sell or rent anyone’s information to anybody, ever.
3. Cookies
Small files stored by your browser. This site uses:
- Security — our host’s provider (Cloudflare) sets a cookie to tell real visitors from automated traffic.
- Analytics — Google Analytics cookies, used to count visits and see which pages are read.
- Language — if you choose Spanish or Arabic, a cookie remembers that choice.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. The site works without them, though your language choice will not be remembered.
Who else is involved
We use a small number of service providers to run the site. They may handle the information above on our behalf, and only for that purpose:
- GoDaddy — website hosting, with Cloudflare providing delivery and security.
- Google — Analytics and Tag Manager, and the hosting of one shared code library.
- Google Workspace — the school’s email, which is where form submissions arrive.
- Google Firebase and Cloudflare Turnstile — these run the tour, volunteer and referral forms and the check that stops automated submissions.
- MailOptin — the newsletter sign-up.
We may also disclose information where the law requires it, including the Tennessee Public Records Act, or to protect the safety of students and staff.
Children
This website is written for parents, prospective families and staff. It is not designed to collect personal information from children, and we do not knowingly collect it from anyone under 13 through this site. If you believe a child has sent us information through this website, write to info@rutherfordclassical.org and we will remove it.
Your choices
- Newsletter — every message has an unsubscribe link, and you can ask us to remove you at any time.
- Something you sent us — ask us to delete it and we will, unless it has become part of a record the school is required to keep.
- Analytics — you can opt out of Google Analytics across all websites with Google’s browser add-on, or by blocking cookies.
Security
The site is served over HTTPS, administrator accounts are limited, and the systems behind the forms require authentication. No website can promise perfect security, but we take reasonable measures and review them.
Changes
If this notice changes, the new version appears here with a new date at the top.
