Ms. Collier

Fourth Grade Teacher

Marilyn Collier was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois. She started her teaching career in 1983 in the private school sector.  Mrs. Collier has taught English and English Composition at the secondary and middle school levels. She received her B.A. in English at the secondary level from Barat College in Lakeforest, Illinois, and her M.A.T from Louis University in Chicago. She is a proud mother and grandmother.

Mrs. Collier’s exposure to outstanding instructors and colleagues has brought positive experiences during her educational and professional endeavors. Her success has been born out of study and the ability to intuitively identify opportunities for her students. She understands that with an increasingly growing and changing educational system, it is important to deploy an adaptive and resilient attitude and gain stability during adjustment periods for students and staff alike.  Mrs. Collier believes that students at all levels of education possess unique and redeeming qualities.

Part of her goal as an educator is to help provide an inviting and stimulating environment for her students.  She also strives to maintain an emotional balance in the classroom and encourage students to become achieving and well-adjusted individuals.  Mrs. Collier takes great pleasure not only as a facilitator of learning, but a recipient of knowledge as well. She is fortunate to have experienced multicultural perspectives on life and education.  Also in her career, Mrs. Collier has learned to see the humor in the unexpected and maintain an unflinching infectious optimism.  She looks forward to teaching at American Classical Academy Rutherford.
