Ms. Young

Art Teacher

Sarah Taylor Young was born and raised in Middle Tennessee. She has taught k-12 children for 18 years, as a private tutor and in the classroom, and has worked in classical education for the past 7 years. She received her B.S. in Interdisciplinary Studies from Middle Tennessee State University. She is pursuing her master’s in music education at Middle Tennessee State University.

Her fondest memories of her father are deeply rooted in the arts. Her father introduced her to music, theater, painting, and drawing. She cherished spending whole weekends together simply painting and creating on blank canvases. Since she was a child, she frequented art history museums, seeing famous works by Monet, Manet, and DaVinci. Her mother taught her how to craft and work with her hands from making wooden Christmas ornaments to gardening.

Mrs. Young is very excited to teach fine arts at American Classical Academy Rutherford and to be a founding member. Her favorite art mediums are painting and drawing. She appreciates a wide range of artistic styles considering her favorite works of art are Michelangelo’s Sistine Chapel, Van Gogh’s Sunflowers Monet’s Water Lilies, and Jackson Pollock’s Convergence. Her favorite art movement is Impressionism. She teaches students that these extraordinary masterpieces begin with the most ordinary brushstrokes.

Mrs. Young has been married for 13 years to her husband and fellow faculty member, Mr. Adam Young. They live with their two children and dog in Murfreesboro. In her free time, Sarah enjoys pursuing her artistry with her music, songwriting, drawing, painting, and gardening.
